Dr. Moir’s passion is her patients. She enjoys educating both patient and family about communication strategies, helping them better understand their hearing needs, and optimizing their use of these wonderful minicomputers to help them hear and understand speech.
Originally intending to be a medical doctor, she volunteered at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon, doing newborn hearing screenings. She found the technical aspects and the interactions with the parents very fulfilling. It was only natural that later in life, when she was ready for a career shift away from the manufacturing sector, she thought of audiology — she wanted to have a more direct impact on people’s lives.
She first started at Winter Haven Audiology under a clerkship, and she saw firsthand the kindness, care, and expertise the entire staff brings to every patient interaction. She knew it was where she wanted to practice audiology: She’d always be up to date on all the latest hearing technology advances, but more importantly, she would be allowed to care for her patients in a way that she’s passionate about. She feels very fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful team.
Dr. Moir earned her bachelor’s degree from Oral Roberts University and her doctorate in audiology from the University of South Florida. She’s lived across the U.S., residing for a time in New York City; Portland, Oregon; Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Central Florida. She’s an avid reader, technophile, and homeschooling mom.
